






Howard L. Speight, Attorney
Howard L. Speight earned two degrees in electrical engineering and worked for 11 years as an electrical engineer in the communications industry. He has practiced patent law for over 20 years, preparing and prosecuting patents in the United States and coordinating patent prosecution around the world. His experience in patent litigation is valuable in preparing patent applications. He has also served the City of Houston as an Associate Municipal Court Judge.
Darryl E. Scott, Attorney
Mr. Scott is a native Texan. He grew up in La Porte, Texas and graduated from La Porte High School. He now resides in Houston Texas. Mr. Scott attended the University of Houston where he received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He has has over 15 years of professional IT strategy and transformation experience and is currently registered to file and prosecute patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Mr. Scott earned his Juris Doctor degree from South Texas College of Law Houston. Before becoming a Patent Attorney, Mr. Scott lititgated family, criminal and employment discrimination cases.
Mr. Scott is also a sitting associate municipal court judge with the City of Houston.
Mary Beth Speight, Non-attorney Administrator
Mari Beth Speight is a native Texan. She grew up in the small north east Texas town of Paris. Mari Beth now lives in Austin and has been in the Austin area for over 25 years along with her husband and two children.
Mari Beth attended Texas Christian University in Fort Worth where she received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1986. Her career began 30 years ago in retail management with Lord & Taylor and later with Foley's as a Human Resource Manager. She has over 25 years in management experience with Lord &Taylor, Foley's and Macy's. While at Foley's she was recognized as an ASM Star Performer in 1994 as well as receiving the HR Performance Award in 1998.
She joined Howard L. Speight, PLLC. in October 2015 as a part time employee. Along with the administrative responsibilities she oversees the daily communication between our firm and clients. She works with our clients throughout the US and abroad on supplying requested documents as needed for foreign and US patent filings.

Bradley A. Misley, Attorney
Brad attended the University of Wyoming on a football scholarship and was a member of a championship team that played in the Fiesta Bowl.
After graduation, Brad pursued a 20 year career in the oil patch in positions of increasing responsibility ranging from Drilling Engineer to Vice President of Operations for several major companies.
Brad attended night school at University of Houston Law Center while working full-time for Conoco in the gas processing division. Since earning his J.D. in 2000, Brad has practiced in both the law firm and corporate settings. These include stints at patent litigation boutique Williams, Morgan & Amerson P.C., Patent Counsel at Total Petrochemical, Senior Counsel at Halliburton and Chief Patent Counsel at KBR. Brad has extensive experience negotiating various IP agreements, including patent licenses, joint-development agreements and university research agreements. He has also served as lead attorney at KBR for a number of Engineering, Construction and Procurement (EPC) contracts for multi-billion-dollar petrochemical projects in the Persian Gulf region. Additional activities include conducting due diligence studies of potential merger and acquisition prospects.
